Hullo again, everyone! To keep the boards less cluttered, I will be posting each of my monthly goals in one thread...this one, to be exact! So, without further ado: DECEMBER 2011 Story Challenge: FoLoNoWriMo Wordcount Goal: 10 K Words Per Day To Reach Goal: 323 Title: Frostbite (please, don't judge me. It's only a working title). Synopsis: Jack Frost wants revenge on Lel Sergeyevich Volkov, a former rival for the love of the now deceased Snegurochka. ~~~ So yes, my goal is quite anaemic. I actually DO have an excuse, though! With Christmas coming up, I'm going to have Christmas presents to make (a music box for my Oma and a stuffed elephant for my nephew). Also (and this isn't so jolly) my Uncle was recently diagnosed with throat cancer, so my family will be spending far more time together than apart. Life is too short to waste it, as I often write in my stories, so I want to be with the people I care about most. As much as I love my characters, I can bring them back from the dead- you can't resurrect family. Still, I made a commitment to do GothNoWriYe, so I won't bail out. Merry Christmas (and Happy Holidays to those of you who don't celebrate it). Good luck with your word-counts, and see you in January!

I like the way you format your goal statement, Anne. I might steal that.
Anne, that is the perfect reason to keep a small goal. Family is so much more important. I am very sorry about your uncle, I know how hard it is to go through that. If you ever want to talk or anything, let me know. <3
On a lighter note, Frostbite sounds like an awesome story! Good luck this month!

Hi Anne, I actually love your working title!. In any case, you are absolutely right to put family first. I applaud you for doing so. It's fine and well to have goals we want to achieve, but when the people you love need you to be there, you only get one chance to do it right. So the story absolutely can wait. I wish you and your family luck and love. I hope you all enjoy the holiday and each other.

I can't say how much all of these comments mean to me. You all are helping me through a very difficult spot in my personal life, and I really can't thank you enough. It's a wonderful feeling to know that I'm participating in a writing program with some of the best people in the world! Happy holidays to everyone and best of luck! @ wolfyone; Thank you very much! I must admit the title has grown on me, so much that I inadvertently wrote it into the story!

JANUARY 2012Story Challenge: FrankNoWriMo (crossed with HistNoWriMo)Wordcount Goal: 30KWords Per Day To Reach Goal: 1000Title: Stitches (yet again, a working title)Synopsis: A rich, pampered young man is sent by his mother to find his MIA uncle and cousins; he soon realizes that a mysterious organization in search of a formula said to bring back the dead may have more to do with his Uncle's disappearance than he could ever have guessed. (Steampunk, AU).
~~~ FEBRUARY 2012Story Challenge: ZoNoWriMoWordcount Goal: 20KWords Per Day To Reach Goal: 690 Title: Undecided (as in, I have no clue)Synopsis: Undead poet prodigy Iggy Hamilton falls desperately in love with a Breather whose family wants to buy his old house. ~~~ MARCH 2012Story Challenge: Hack/Slash Editting of my GothNoWriMoEditting Goal: I want to be at least 1/4 way done with revisions by the end of the monthTitle: Undecided (as in, I have no clue)Synopsis: Twenty year old BU Psychology student Sam Parker doesn’t believe in anything that she can’t see. No angels, no demons, and certainly, most definitely not ghosts. So when Sam moves to Ireland for a year as an exchange student, she thinks nothing of buying the cheapest place she can find- even if it is an old Victorian house out in the country with a crazy Anglicized name, famed as being the most haunted residence in all Galway. To Sam’s utter amazement, it turns out that her new home IS haunted- by the stranded souls of Dr. Faust and Eire’s most notorious folkloric figure: Jack O’ Lantern. Soon after Sam’s arrival, the demon Mephistopheles comes to pay his old ‘friends’ a visit and leaves a warning: find a way to redemption before midnight on Halloween or el Diablo will turn you into demons for all eternity. Faced with either a fate worse than death or the horror of believing in that which cannot be proven, Sam must work with her new ghoulish acquaintances to save her own skin. Finding redemption isn’t so easy, however, when certain shadows don’t want you to, and when you’re only guided by the light of the moon. ~~~ So, yes. I didn't win WriYe this month; I didn't really like my story. It was a cute idea, but not cute enough to make the cut. One day I might come back to it, but not now. January is going to be very, very fun- I am so excited. I've had this story in my system (more or less) since I was about nine; writing it is going to feel amazing!!!! February is, er, odd. My Dad got a transfer to a city about an hour away, and we were under the impression we'd be moving in March; that is appearently not the case, so we need to start packing ASAP in order to move in by March 1st. I should have more free time, though, considering it's a 45 minute drive and I can write in the car if I need to. Plus, my story is designed for children, so I can use baby words. March, needless to say, will be fun as well. And yes, I am revising my Irish story in March to coincide with St. Patrick's Day. What can I say-I'm pretentious. xD I hope everyone else's plans are going well! Happy /belated/ Holidays!!!
Sounds like you will have some writing fun to look forward to for the next few months. I will, sadly be working on editing. It has been a bit like slogging through cold molasses, though I have been working on it this month. And my goal, of finishing the editing of one book is not happening this month. But that's ok. I'm in it for the long haul!
@ wolfyone; Ugh, cold molasses (as a baker, that image is all too familiar, and all too ugly). I'm definitely not excited for chugging through that, either, but it's a burden us authors must bear. Glad to see you're keeping your morale up! Good luck!
As I've said, I'm in it for the long haul. This is what I was meant to do. Now that I have finally figured that out, I intend to stick with it, whatever it takes. How goes your work?
As I've said, I'm in it for the long haul. This is what I was meant to do. Now that I have finally figured that out, I intend to stick with it, whatever it takes. How goes your work? My work is going rather well, actually! I'm five days in and quite well into my goal, which is nice. Contrary to last month, I'm whizzing through my word-count, and most of it is high quality. My transitions between scenes are a little rough, but so far everything else sounds okay. I'm also a little weary of my dialogue, but that is an issue for editing.~
Update on Feb. Challenge!
FEBRUARY 2012 Story Challenge: ZoNoWriMo Wordcount Goal: 10K Words Per Day To Reach Goal: 345 Title: Iambic Feet; No Heart Beat (awful, I know) Synopsis: Undead poet prodigy Iggy Hamilton falls desperately in love with a Breather whose family wants to buy his old house.
Not much is changed;I just added a bad title and halved my wordcount; I'm going to be packing and moving to a new house, so I need my wordcount to be tinky tiny. After my move ( by April) I'll start tackling more ambitious projects. Wish me luck~
Another update, everyone! I've decided to buckle up and tackle my hard projects (as you may have already heard), so I'm here to put down all (or most of) of my challenges through November. ~~~ [glow=red,2,300] April 2012[/glow] Story Challenge: Hack/Slash editing on my HistNoWriMo/GothNoWriYe for JanuaryEditing Goal: I want a clean draft with a crisp plot. As long as it makes sense, I’m fine with a page a day of editing (though of course I’ll be doing more on my good days).Title: Stitches Synopsis: A rich, pampered young man is sent by his mother to find his MIA uncle and cousins; he soon realizes that a mysterious organization in search of a formula said to bring back the dead may have more to do with his family’s disappearance than he could ever have guessed. (Steampunk, AU). ~ [glow=red,2,300] May 2012[/glow] Same challenge as April; I want to have a draft completed, this time! ~ [glow=red,2,300] June 2012[/glow] Story Challenge: PoMoNoWriMoWordcount Goal: 50,000Words Per Day To Reach Goal: 1,667Title: Death SucksSynopsis: Sixteen year old Florence "Flo" Jones, like 9/10 of the world's population, has a boring life. Her afterlife, on the other hand, is a different story. After being hit by a car on the way home from school, Flo wakes up in Purgatory City: a Prohibition era metropolis, complete with speakeasies, and eerily reminiscent of New York City ninety years ago. Purgatory is the place Flo's been dying to dissect, but there's just one teeny problem: the unelected Mayor has a penchant for tyranny, and forces anyone who doesn't comply with his rules down 'Judgment Way': a one way road to the Unknown. Flo teams up with a small group of like-minded individuals with the sole purpose of running the Mayor out of town. Tommy Guns, gin and tonic, and the Charleston dominate her adventure, but it's not all play. Along with the adrenaline rush comes a dose of reality: even skeletons have skeletons in their closets, and Flo is the only one with the key.~ [glow=red,2,300] July 2012[/glow] I’m not sure what I’ll do this month; I want to edit my NaNoWriMo 2011 novel. It’s a dark novel, but not quite Gothic, so I have to come up with a short story. ~ [glow=red,2,300] August 2012[/glow] Story Challenge: Not sure where this fits. It's definitely 'gothic' though (there's an autopsy, a bet, and time travel). Wordcount Goal: 50,000Words Per Day To Reach Goal: 1,667Title: Life Sucks (sequel to Death Sucks)Synopsis: It’s been a year since Flo woke up screaming in a body bag, fifteen minutes after the doctors pronounced her clinically dead. Suddenly unable to speak anything but her father’s language of French, and obsessed with the afterlife, home has become a prison. To make matters even worse, Flo hasn’t made any progress on her bet with the Mayor: she still has no clue who her friends were in life. In an effort to stave off depression, Flo does something she’d only dreamt of before: she runs away to stay with her grandmother in Marseille, France. A random chain of events unexpectedly puts Flo just where she wanted to be: on the trail to finding the identities of the mysterious Blanche, Ira, and Zeke. ~ [glow=red,2,300]September 2012[/glow]: ?~ [glow=red,2,300]October 2012:[/glow] ?~ [glow=red,2,300]November 2012:[/glow] NaNoWriMo~~~ I'm 2.3KG_Of_Tea on CampNano (just like on regular NaNo), so if anyone else is camping out this summer, let me know and we can be ‘cabin mates’. Also, is anyone else doing Script Frenzy in April? I’m attempting it with a creepy screenplay about the disappearance of the Roanoke Colonists. I’ll also be editing. Good luck to all of you!
