Not being satisfied with having only first drafts completed I am making my first challenge this year of the hack slash variety. Instead of being seduced onto the easier road of an exciting new story I am going to end 2011 with, I hope, a finished manuscript. In honor of GothNoWrimo, the mothership that spawned this forum, I will edit my GothNo novel. So feel free to send out the zombies if I stray from my intended path folks! The autopsy part of writing is not the part I look forward to, so I will need some poking with pointy sticks this month!

@ wolfyone; Well thank you very much! @ Marielaurent; I believe you can go ahead and post your goal in this section (the State Your Goal one). Just make a new thread! I hope that helps a little!

Thanks Daemora. I have been working on it a bit each day and it seems like it's going all right so far, but I think it could easily become a never ending project. It's not as exciting to do rewrites as it is to do that first draft, but I really really want to have books on my shelf with my name on them. So I am determined to keep plugging away.

Well, December has come and gone and the book is still not done. I am finding editing to be less fun and more time consuming than I expected. The actual story is solid and flows pretty well I think, but the details and nitpicking are making me crazy. Grrrr.... So my January goal is to keep on slogging. I will finish this book. I will finish this book. I will finish this book.......

I admire your dedication! Editing is probably the most rewarding part of the writing process, but also the most painful. You will finish, you will finish- we know it!

Thanks for the encouragement, Anne, Daemora. I intend to finish, I just anticipated that it would go faster than this. I don't want to put garbage out for general consumption though so now it is time to be nit picky with my work. I like my characters, so I want to do them justice. It is frustrating though to admit how easy it is to set down a story, compared with how difficult it is to slice and dice and make it a work of art.

Hi Guys! The autopsy took a lot longer than I anticipated, but 4 of my 5 books are edited, 2 in the proofing process and almost ready to roll. It's good to be back writing again. Hope all is well with you all!

Thanks Marie. This writing thing is a lot of work. Writing the book is just the beginning, the fun part. I really do not enjoy the editing, and formatting is grueling, but hopefully it will all pay off in the long run. I am excited that I will soon hold actual books in my hand, that have been written by me!
